AILingo Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

This privacy policy describes how AILingo (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the app.

AILingo is an Android app that teaches practical AI skills through gamified lessons. It is built and maintained by a single developer as an independent project.

Summary

Information we collect

1. Course progress

Your lesson progress, exercise answers, XP, level, streak, hearts, daily goals, and earned badges are stored on your device.

If you sign in with Google (optional), your learning progress (such as completed lessons, XP, badges, and goal settings) is also synced to our server and linked to your Google account, so it can be restored on a new device. Some items — such as your current free hearts — remain device-local and are never synced.

If you never sign in, your progress stays on your device only, and uninstalling the app deletes it.

2. Google Sign-In (optional)

You do not need an account to learn. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier and basic profile information (such as your email address) from Google. We use this to:

We do not use your email address for marketing, and we do not share it with third parties.

If you use the app without signing in, requests to our server are identified by Firebase Anonymous Authentication — a random, anonymous identifier for your app installation that is not linked to your name, email, or Google account.

3. Prompt Lab AI grading

Prompt Lab grades the prompt text you write using a real AI model on our backend. This feature:

Submitted prompt text is used only to grade your submission and is not used to train AI models — by us or by the AI model provider. We do not log or store the full text of your submissions in routine server logs. A small number of technical fields (request ID, timestamps, challenge/rubric version, grading outcome, token counts, error codes) are retained for reliability and abuse prevention, with the prompt text itself excluded by default.

Every Prompt Lab result is clearly labeled as either live (graded by the AI backend) or demo (graded offline on your device).

4. Purchases and subscriptions

AILingo offers optional in-app purchases (AI-credit packs and heart packs) and an optional AILingo Plus subscription. All payments are processed by Google Play; we never receive your card number or other payment details.

To deliver what you bought and prevent fraud, our server receives purchase confirmations (purchase tokens) from Google Play, verifies them with Google, and keeps a record of your purchased items and subscription status linked to your account. This record is what allows purchases to be restored when you sign in on a new device.

5. What we do not collect

Advertising

AILingo shows rewarded ads via Google AdMob: optional, user-initiated video ads you may choose to watch in exchange for a bonus, such as extra hearts, a hint, or additional AI grading. Declining simply means you don’t receive the bonus. There are currently no banner or interstitial ads; if that changes, this policy will be updated first.

About ad data:

Third-party services

AILingo uses the following third-party services:

We do not share your information with data brokers, and we do not sell your data. Prompt text is never shared with any ad network.

Data retention

Account and data deletion

If you have signed in with Google and want your server-side data deleted, you can request deletion of your account data — your synced progress, purchase/entitlement records, and badges. Full steps are on the Delete your account page. In short:

Note that records of the payments themselves (for example, for refunds and tax purposes) are held by Google Play under Google’s policies — we cannot delete those on Google’s behalf. Deleting your account data also removes purchased items from our records, so they can no longer be restored.

If you never signed in, we hold no account data about you: uninstalling the app removes your locally stored progress.

Your choices

Children’s privacy

AILingo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app changes. We will update the “Last updated” date above when changes are made. Material changes that affect what data is collected will be reflected here before they take effect.
